24a was engaged by Gilbey Films to design the graphics for a film, a course handbook, participant’s handout and other printed materials for ‘Empower!’, a course devised to teach adults with learning disabilities about how UK Government and Parliament work.
The graphical look needed to feel bright, engaging and modern but ensure information was accessible to the intended audience, specifically by following ‘Easy Read’ guidelines.
From the Empower! logo, through the design of all the elements, the materials have a strong visual identity. New icons and imagery were created to extend the house-style, with circles for all the key images to make the information simple, clear and direct. Images originated at the film shoot were incorporated into all the materials.
The Houses of Parliament Outreach and Engagement team have now gone live with ‘Empower!’ To read more about this collaborative project take a look at the Gilbey Films blog or watch all eight chapters of the film. To get involved with Empower! read about it on the UK Parliament Outreach website.
